Updated Schedule of JAM 2020

Dear JAM 2020 candidates,
Please carefully read as there are important announcements below.

The JAM committee has decided on a new schedule for the rest of JAM admissions based on the following observations:

  1. Based on the “Accept and Freeze” and “Accept and Upgrade” requests received during the Round-2 of admissions, very few seats will remain available after Round-2.

  2. Though the last date of submission of document submission is extended until August 16, the lockdown is also being extended in major cities. Hence candidates are facing trouble in the timely submission of the documents.

  3. The candidates are anxious about getting final seat allocation and admission related information from the Admitting Institutes. They are sending a large number of emails to the JAM Organising and Admitting Institutes.

Considering these points and keeping candidates’ welfare in mind, the following changes are made to the JAM 2020 admission process:
  1. The third round will be the LAST and FINAL round of the seat allocation through JOAPS Portal.
(Dates: Declaration of Round 3 on August 04 2020, Seat Booking Fees to be paid by 5:00 PM on August 07 2020).

  2. The documents will no longer be scrutinized through JOAPS portal. They will be scrutinized by the Admitting Institute directly as per their academic calendar. Hence, the submission of the documents is made OPTIONAL. Any materials submitted through the portal until 5:00 PM on August 7, 2020, will be forwarded to the respective Admitting Institutes. Please visit HERE for more details.

  3. The dates for the WITHDRAWAL from the admission process are also updated.
    (Dates: August 04 – August 07, 2020 until 5:00 PM)

  4. The FOURTH ROUND of seat allocation will now be replaced by SPOT ADMISSION rounds conducted independently by some of the Admitting Institutes. See also the next point.

  5. Different Admitting Institutes will have their own dates and process for the SPOT ADMISSIONS, depending on the seats available and academic calendar. An Admitting Institute may NOT conduct SPOT ADMISSION if they do not have any vacant seats. Candidates can apply for the SPOT ADMISSIONS following the rules and guidelines as will be floated by the Admitting Institutes (Candidates are advised to contact the GATE-JAM offices of the Admitting Institute for further information in this regard).

  6. JAM 2020 Organising Institute (IIT Kanpur) will not be associated and will not be responsible for the processes and outcomes of the SPOT ADMISSIONS.

  7. Note that the admission offer, if any, is provisional subject to the verification of the documents at the Admitting Institute, as per the dates mentioned in the offer letter.
If admitted, it will be the responsibility of the candidate to submit appropriate documents at the Admitting Institutes when requested. Failure to provide necessary documents may result in the cancellation of the seat allotted to the candidate.
